US banking giant Citi has announced a raft of senior appointments across its global businesses.

Asia Pacific will have a new chairman in Shengman Zhang and new CEOs in Stephen Bird and Shirish Apte.

Zhang will be tasked with developing and enhancing relations with clients, regulators, government officials and employees in the region.

Bird will assume responsibility for the North of the Asia Pacific region, with Apte taking on duties in the South.

In the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) there will also be new CEOs, with Bill Mills and Alberto Verme taking up the positions.

Mills will be responsible for Africa and Western Europe, with Verme handling Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

Vikram Pandit, CEO of Citi, has stated that the quintet of appointments is an underlining of the firm’s commitment to the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.
