Merrill Lynch & Co has announced the appointment of George H. Young III as the new global chief of Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) Investment Banking.
Young, who is to be based in New York, was formerly head of Global Communications group with investment bank Lehman Brothers a post he left in 2007.
Prior to the 13 years spent at Lehman Brothers, he worked for First Boston Corporation in M&A for several years.
Merrill Lynch’s president and chief operating officer, Gregory J. Fleming, has described Young as one of the most experienced and respected professionals in the sector.
Andrea Orcel, head of global origination, has stated that the firm considers TMT to be a key growth area, which will be bolstered by Young’s international experience.
