Goldman Sachs threatens blogger with legal action

Wall Street bank, Goldman Sachs, has threatened legal action against the blogger behind the “Facts about Goldman Sachs” website.

Investment adviser, Mike Morgan, has received a “cease-and-desist” letter warning that he may face legal action if he does not close down the site, which was launched a few weeks ago and has grown into a forum for discussion on wider issues surrounding Wall Street banks and the financial crisis.

According to a report in the Daily Telegraph, Goldman Sachs claims that the site infringes intellectual property rights and comes across as being connected to the bank.

However, anyone entering the site is met with the following statement:
“This website has NOT been approved by Goldman Sachs, nor does this website have any affiliation with Goldman Sachs. This website was designed to provide information about Goldman Sachs direct from the public, and NOT from Goldman Sachs’s marketing and public relations departments.”

Mr Morgan is experienced in defending the legal status of blogs focused on the activities of big business and apparently already has a number of other domain names up his sleeve should he be forced to close down.

Meanwhile, he is recruiting volunteers “to go out and find interesting posts”.

No doubt anyone who has managed to complete Nassim Taleb’s “The Black Swan” should apply.
