Barclays enhances travel insurance offering

Barclays has launched an enhanced travel insurance offering for customers, following its recent three-year deal with FirstAssist.

The new product has a number of benefits including a “Quick Quote” facility and the option for customers to include pre-existing medical conditions, subject to an additional premium.

It also offers optional extra cover for winter sports, weddings, golf trips and business trips abroad, plus independent travel cover for customers who have booked their trips through any method other than a travel agent.

Age eligibility terms have been improved, providing cover for those aged up to seventy-four on annual policies and seventy-nine on single-trip policies.

Barclays’ general insurance and external relationships director, Rob Clarkson, comments: “This year the travel industry has faced massive issues with particular reference to the volcanic ash cloud and so it is essential that Barclays customers have adequate insurance cover.”

Aviva continues to be the insurance provider for the travel insurance that is inclusive in some of the bank’s current accounts.
