Bank of America halts WikiLeaks payments
Bank of America (BoA) has ceased processing payments for WikiLeaks, joining Visa, Mastercard and PayPal in their attempts to stifle the whistle-blowing website.
The bank says the action has been taken in the “reasonable belief that WikiLeaks may be engaged in activities that are, among other things, inconsistent with our internal policies for processing payments”.
However, the move has fuelled speculation that BoA could be on WikiLeaks’ hit list.
Last month, the site’s founder, Julian Assange, revealed plans to leak confidential documents from a major American bank.
In a rare interview, with Forbe magazine, Mr Assange said the data dump would take place early next year, laying bare secrets for “every customer, every competitor, every regulator to examine and pass judgment on”.
Mr Assange also confirmed that he has “many more” banking documents to leak than those specifically related to his next venture.

WikiLeaks carry out promethean acts and punishment goes with the territory.
Exposing wrong doing is a fundamental cornerstone of true democracy and more will come. America has handled this very badly and Bank of America, Visa etc have stupidly compounded the error.
