Having announced her intention to step down as chief executive of the British Bankers’ Association (BBA) last month, Angela Knight has been appointed chief executive of Energy UK, the new trade association for the UK energy sector.
She will take up the post later in the summer, leaving the BBA at the end of July after five years at the helm.
Energy UK represents some 70 companies, from small electricity generators and energy services firms to large integrated utilities groups.
Commenting on Ms Knight’s appointment, Energy UK acting chief executive, David Porter, said: “Her talent, drive and experience make her perfectly placed to lead Energy UK into a new era.”
Ms Knight added: “I want to see Energy UK help deliver investor confidence in the UK and to work with the industry to improve its reputation.”
