Barclays has hired Francis Esem Wood as managing director in wealth and investment management.
Based in London, Mr Wood will focus on the West African market reporting to Henry Fischel-Bock, managing director and head of Central & Eastern Europe and offshore Africa.
Prior to joining Barclays, he was a managing director at JHX Management with responsibility for establishing key relationships to drive business in Africa.
Previously, Mr Wood was chief executive officer in the investment bank of First City Monument Bank in Lagos, and held roles at Credit Suisse, Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch.
Commenting on the appointment, Mr Fischel-Bock says: “A dual Ghanaian and UK national, Francis has extensive networks and experience in West Africa which will significantly complement our existing team and further bolster our growth prospects in this region.”
