French Banking Federation appoints new chairman

Crédit Agricole chief executive, Jean-Paul Chifflet, has been appointed chairman of the French Banking Federation (FBF) following the departure of Frédéric Oudéa, chairman and chief executive officer of Société Générale.

The job involves representing the industry in its dealings with government officials (including the Office of the President, the prime minister, the finance ministry and treasury) and both houses of the French parliament.

The FBF chairman also plays a key role in dealing with French and international regulatory, supervisory and oversight authorities.

Founded in 2001, the Federation represents all French and foreign banks operating in France.
