Uganda has been lauded for embracing new technology in a World Bank report.
The World Bank compiled a report detailing the usage of technology in developing nations, and how technological status has changed from country to country since the early 1990s.
A statement was released by the World Bank which described the trends it had seen as cautionary in some cases, and encouraging in others.
The progression of technology in developing nations has been swifter than in wealthy countries, however the chasm between rich and poor nations remains and the distribution of technology throughout a developing nation can be delayed due to lack of available investment.
An example of how developing nations can utilise high technology highlighted by the report is the Ugandan usage of a smart card which means that banking activities can be achieved for a small price using mobile phones.
This is a particularly important innovation as large numbers of people who lack banking facilities do have access to mobile phones, and more are getting mobile phone access all the time.
