Piper Jaffray, an international middle market investment firm, has announced a trio of appointments made to bolster its municipal finance banking offering, and to grow its California large issuer business.
Bernie Mikell, Russell Reyes and Rosalyn Chen are all recruited to focus upon Piper Jaffray’s government financing business in California, on both a state and local level.
Mikell joins as senior vice president, and is to be based in Sacramento.
He will be charged with fostering the large issuers business and, on a state level, directing the firm’s municipal finance banking business expansion plans.
Reyes leaves behind UBS to join the firm, and will be based in Los Angeles, where he will focus upon coverage of large issuers in the western region.
Chen will work from Orange County, handling municipalities and land-based finance.
The appointments are the latest in a string that have seen the firm’s banker numbers swell to 25 in the region.
The three new members of Piper Jaffray will bring leadership and experience to their roles, according to Frank Fairman, public finances chief.
