Deutsche Bank has announced that Malcolm D. Knight is to serve as the firm’s new vice chairman.
Knight, who assumes his new position on 6 October, will report directly to Josef Ackermann, who chairs both the group executive committee and the management board.
His non-executive role will see him responsible for the supervision of the bank’s relationships with central banks and regulators across the globe.
Although Knight’s position will be based in New York, he will also spend much of his time in other cities of global importance, including London, Berlin and Washington.
He joins Deutsche Bank from the Bank for International Settlements, where has worked as general manager and chief executive officer since 2003.
Earlier in his career he served the Bank of Canada as deputy governor, prior to which he held a range of senior positions with the IMF.
Ackermann has welcomed the appointment, praising Knight’s experience.
