Nationwide has acknowledged the contribution made in reorganising its customer files by its supplier, EDM Group.

The document manager solution provider has received two accolades in the buildings society’s annual Business Services Supplier awards in connection with the archive and retrieval system that it completed for Nationwide earlier this year.

EDM won first place for Innovation and was runner-up in the Best Supplier category.

The company’s Scan-on-Demand service manages 2.5 million Nationwide customer files and over one million microfiche items, from a facility in Wolverhampton.

The project involved moving 70,000 boxed customer files and 19 cabinets of customer data on microfiche to the archive.

The firm is currently dealing with around 1,700 retrievals per month; items are supplied direct to Nationwide staff using its secure web hosted service.

Around 500,000 further images are being scanned each month and added to the digital archive.

The system has significantly reduced the workload of Nationwide’s staff and has improved the audit and control aspects of handling customer files.

It also has environmental benefits because files were previously ferried about by couriers.
