Morgan Stanley has announced the appointment of Yoshihiko Shigenari to the post of private equity leader in Japan.
Shigenari, whose appointment comes into effect on 1 July, is also to be made representative director of Morgan Stanley Capital K. K.
Shigenari has been with the firm for almost two decades, joining in 1989 and presently serving as representative director and co-head of the Investment Banking Division at Morgan Stanley Japan Securities Co., Ltd.
Stephen Trevor, co-head of Morgan Stanley Private Equity and the Firm’s Merchant Banking Division, has stated that the appointment emphasises the firm’s commitment to private equity, adding that he was confident Shigenari’s expertise and experience would prove of great benefit.
Adding to that, Chin Cho, chief executive officer for Morgan Stanley’s private equity in Asia, explained that the firm’s aim to establish a strong presence in Japan would bolster the successes already achieved in a number of Asian markets, including China and South Korea.
