Alliance & Leicester has launched a new Visa card which is likely to be of interest to people who run their own businesses.

The card is pre-paid and can therefore be used by employers to provide expenses for staff travelling in their jobs or undertaking purchases on behalf of their employer.

Once it has been loaded with credit, the card can be used for a predetermined time until the allocated funds are exhausted.

The new type of card can be used at home or abroad, where ever the Visa sign is displayed, and its use can make keeping track of expenses easier.

It will be of particularl value to companies that employ temporary workers or have staff located overseas.

In the case of temporary staff, they can be paid using the card and this not only has benefits to the employer in terms of simplifying the payroll but also eliminates the need for short-term or migrant workers to have bank accounts.
