Standard Chartered Bank has announced the appointment of Ray Ferguson to the post of chief executive of Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore.

He brings to the post over two decades of experience in the international banking sector and has worked for Standard Chartered Bank as chief executive of its UAE operations and chief executive of the Americas.

Ferguson will retain his present position of regional chief executive of southeast Asia, and will continue to be directly responsible to Jaspal Bindra, the bank’s Asia chief executive.

In a second appointment, Lim Cheng Teck will take on the post of executive vice chairman and chief executive in China, reporting directly to Jaspal Bindra.

Bindra has paid tribute to Teck’s time in his prior role as chief executive of Singapore and expressed his confidence in Teck’s ability to perform similarly well in his new position in China.
