Nomura bolsters Malaysian presence

Asian-based investment bank Nomura has received the go ahead from the Securities Commission of Malaysia to establish a new stock broking company within the country.

The importance of the Malaysian financial marketplace in the region has grown in recent years, aided by the increasing sophistication of Islamic finance.

Nomura’s new Malaysian-based company will enable more funds to freely flow from the rest of the world, the Middle East in particular, to the stocks and Islamic financial instruments within Malaysia.

Satoshi Imai, leader of Nomura’s Malaysian officer, has expressed his delight at the approval being granted for Nomura to build upon its presence in the country.

It is 15 years since the firm first entered the Malaysian marketplace, and will permit Nomura to enhance its presence in the increasingly important Asian nation.
