Calyon has announced the appointment of Patrice Couvègnes as leader of the Asia Region (not including Australia and Japan) and that he has been granted a place on the firm’s management committee.
He brings more than three decades of banking experience to the role, having joined Banque Française du Commerce Extérieur in 1975 after leaving the French Ministry of Equipment and Transport.
Couvègnes has also served as deputy manager of Banque Indosuez’ Large Corporate Clients Division, and 12 years ago was made Crédit Agricole Indosuez’s head of Asia-Pacific Corporate Banking business line.
He became leader of Crédit Agricole Indosuez (renamed Calyon) in South Korea eight years ago, and three years ago as appointed Calyon’s leader in Japan.
Replacing Couvègnes as leader of Calyon Japan is Marc-André Poirier.
Poirier joined the firm last year as Calyon Securities Japan’s chief executive officer, also taking on the position of capital markets chief.
He left behind Société Générale after two decades with the firm’s capital markets division during which he spent a decade in Asia.
