Gautam Bhandari has been appointed by Morgan Stanley to lead the firm’s investment platform of Morgan Stanley Infrastructure.

In his new Mumbai-based position, Bhandari will lead the team responsible for investment in India, sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East.

Taking up his new role, he leaves behind New York where he worked within Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Division as an advisor on M&A on the world stage.

Earlier in his time with the firm, Bhandari worked in the Global Capital Markets group, handling securitisations, hedges and structured financings.

Morgan Stanley Infrastructure’s global head, Sadek Wahba, has said that Bhandari’s sector and emerging market experience will prove valuable as the firm seeks to make investments in infrastructure.
