Deutsche Bank has appointed Maarten van Berckel to serve as a managing director in the Global Banking team responsible for coverage of the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium.

In his new post van Berckel will based in the Netherlands, in the bank’s Amsterdam office.

Van Berckel previously worked for Lehman Brothers International (Europe) as an MD, and also as the chief executive officer of Lehman Brothers Benelux.

He joined Lehman Brothers eight years ago, leaving behind MeesPierson Investment Banking, where he worked as chairman of MeesPierson Investment Bank.

His hiring is the third in a series of moves designed to bolster the firm’s presence in Benelux, and follows on from the appointment of Nick Aperghis and the announcement in July that Deutsche Bank sought to gain some commercial banking activities from ABN AMRO (via Fortis).
