Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Research has announced a brace of appointments to strengthen its US Energy team.

Douglas Becker and Gil Yang will report directly to Douglas Leggate, senior US integrated, exploration and production (E&P) and refining analyst.

Becker leaves behind SMH Capital, where he was senior analyst with the oil services and equipment team, to join Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Yang is formerly of Citigroup, where he served as senior exploration and production and specialty chemicals analyst for almost a decade.

Becker is based in Houston and will cover the oil services sector, with Yang joining the firm next month to handle mid-cap E&P companies from New York.

Steve Haggerty, head of Americas Equity Research, has welcomed Becker and Yang to the firm, stating that their recruitment underlined the bank’s commitment to building a top class US Energy team.
